A: No, we have
conducted extensive traffic studies and there is more than enough capacity on
I-90 and North Bend Way serve casino customers.
Q: Who is building the
casino?
A: Skanska, an
internationally respected construction company that has won awards for its
commitment to the environment and sustainability.
Q: What will the Tribe
do with the money it makes from the casino?
A: The Tribe will
use the revenues generated from the casino to fund tribal government services
such as housing, support for senior citizens and health care for tribal members.
Q: Will the Snoqualmie
Tribe open other casinos in the area?
A: The Tribe has no
plans to open another casino.
Q: Why did the
Snoqualmie Tribe want to open a casino?
A: Many tribes in
Washington State and around the country use casinos and gaming operations as an
economic development tool to provide support for their tribal members. Under
federal law, tribal government gaming revenue must be used to support tribal
government or social services, promote tribal welfare, support charities or
mitigate local community impacts.
Q: Will the casino be
regulated by government?
A: Tribal gaming is
regulated by federal, tribal and state governments. Federal law requires special
oversight of tribal gaming by the National Indian Gaming Commission and the
Bureau of Indian Affairs. Tribal casinos are also subject to review by the IRS,
FBI, Justice Department and other federal agencies. The Washington State
Gambling Commission also regulates tribal gaming and reviews tribal gaming
commission records monthly.
Q: Has the Snoqualmie
Tribe talked to the local community about the casino?
A: Since 2001 the
Tribe has met with hundreds of members of the Snoqualmie Valley community and
elected officials to discuss the casino project.
